23 March 2024
OH, NO. No. A sense that something was not right, that our wonderful Princess was perhaps in more trouble than we’d been told, was confirmed at 6pm on Friday with an unprecedented TV address that dealt a blow to the nation’s solar plexus.
Some will simply have been stunned by the news, hardly able to comprehend it (what, cancer twice in the Royal family within two months? But she’s so young).
Others will have been in tears, as I was, watching our Princess of Wales, parchment-pale, clearly fragile yet valiantly composing herself to record a message in that crystal-clear voice, reassuring us that, although it had been “an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family,” she would be OK, given enough time, space and privacy.
One friend who heard it on the car radio pulled over to the side of the road and sobbed. “I am just so upset,” she texted.
Another confessed she was relieved that the Waleses hadn’t separated – one of the wilder rumours that had been flying around since the Princess of Wales was pictured in that photoshopped, too-smiley Mother’s Day picture without her wedding rings.
“For the backbone of Britain, we need those two to be together and happily married,” said my friend. So true.
William ’n’ Kate, Kate ’n’ William, a couple for almost the whole of their adult lives, one unimaginable without the other.
Our monarchy is assured as long as there is them (the Waleses will celebrate their thirteenth wedding anniversary on 29th April, six days after little Louis turns six).
Suddenly, with this announcement, we are reminded that they are only human too, vulnerable at times, and Britain is badly shaken.
As she finished her statement, the ramifications started to sink in. Prince William has to deal with a father and a wife with cancer at the same time.
There are haunting echoes of Diana, too, another beloved princess whose personal challenges played out so publicly.
Poor William must feel like there are snipers in the garden taking aim at his family.
You could tell the children were uppermost in her mind, just as they are for any parent who is told they have cancer.
George, Charlotte and Louis, she spoke their names aloud, her darlings. You know, I think they were the real reason she steeled herself to do it.
To sit there on that wooden bench with spring bursting out behind her. Daffodils on a grassy bank, trees in blossom – a cruelly lovely backdrop for such sad tidings.
How simply dressed she was in a matelot jumper and jeans, stripped of finery and clothed, instead, in a becoming humility, her beauty thrown into sharp relief by the strain on her face.
A 42-year-old who is uniquely privileged yet now confronts every woman’s frightening brush with mortality.
Her statement was carefully timed to coincide with the start of the school Easter holidays so the children could be safe at home and wouldn’t have to endure whispers in class about Mummy’s illness.
(Sparing them the agonies of embarrassment young William and Harry suffered at boarding school when Charles and Diana were getting divorced.)
It’s not easy to protect your children when their grandfather is the King and their father his heir.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have always been concerned to make things as normal, as Middleton, as possible, for their young family; this is their toughest test yet.
Was there more than a hint of rebuke in the Princess’s carefully measured words for a media that really has shown neither patience nor “understanding” since she disappeared from public view to have abdominal surgery?
She could be forgiven for being furious. (Believe me, many of us are furious on her behalf.)
“William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she said pointedly.
“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.
But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.”
“Back off,” she was saying in the politest possible way, “leave me and my kids alone.”
Of course, she needed time to come to terms with the shattering blow of having a life-threatening illness and three children under 10. Every mother’s nightmare.
But time is one thing the vultures and conspiracy theorists were not prepared to give her.
In the vacuum Kensington Palace foolishly allowed to develop, the vilest rumours flourished.
Had she undergone cosmetic surgery? Wasn’t she just slacking? Why wasn’t William taking up more duties to relieve his sick father?
Had Catherine left William? Was it a lookalike pictured with William at a Windsor farm shop?
The gossip went global, causing universal hysteria.
Imagine feeling as sick and scared as the Princess must have done, yet being under pressure to show yourself in order to disprove the lies and appease the baying online mob. It’s barbaric.
I hope those who made such disgusting comments are burning with shame today now that we know the reason she hid away.
It wasn’t only ghouls with a conscience bypass who were trying to fill the gaps in the story.
Theories also came from people who adore the Royal family and were deeply worried for the absent Princess. We love and respect her so much.
Incredibly, in a poll earlier this month, the recuperating Princess still managed to emerge as the most popular royal, narrowly ahead of her husband.
Despite the slurry of accusations – not least the appalling claim in an early draft of a book by Omid Scobie (media snitch), that she was one of the two alleged “royal racists” who speculated on the baby’s likely skin colour – their figures are broadly unchanged since a previous poll in 2023.
Never Put a Foot Wrong is said so often it’s practically the definition of her.
Turns out there may be stresses and strains to appearing always in control, to aiming for perfection, that can eat away at a sensitive person not born to be royal.
Catherine says her job brings her joy; it must also have caused worry (such remorseless spotlight scrutiny).
We should reflect on that, I think. On what it’s reasonable to expect from one human being who expects so much of herself.
How the Princess came to win such a large place in British people’s hearts is better than any fairy tale.
Bullied at school, the quiet, sporty brunette was famous for her record-breaking high jump and tenacious character.
She had blossomed by the time she met William in their first term at St Andrew’s.
At 29, when they finally exchanged vows in Westminster Abbey, she was the first royal bride to have a university degree; the first to have lived with her husband before marriage; the first to be raised in a house that had a street number instead of a fancy name and a moat with swans.
As second in line to the throne, William was expected to pick his princess from a select group of well-bred young fillies.
Hot favourites included Davina Duckworth-Chad and one Isabella Amaryllis Charlotte Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe.
Enough hyphens to make plain Catherine Middleton of Bucklebury, Berkshire, feel a little inadequate, you might think.
Except that, when a friend at university told Catherine how lucky she was to be going out with Prince William, a smiling Catherine replied: “He’s lucky to have me.”
The years have proved her right, haven’t they?
The death of Diana left William a damaged, stubborn and angry young man, acutely aware he was a prisoner of fate and railing at the media who pursued his mother.
Catherine has calmed him, rebuilding trust while providing the regular family life he had never known.
She has grown brilliantly into the role and the Waleses are a formidable team, lighting up any event they enter.
Now, it is his turn to soothe and calm her, although he must be deeply worried.
“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too, as is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both,” she said.
The King was right to salute his daughter-in-law for her courage. Imagine what it takes to first tell your small children you have cancer and then tell the whole world.
She did it so naturally, so sweetly, with such great empathy for others with that cruel disease that no one could possibly guess what it cost her. But it cost her.
She has told George, Charlotte and Louis that Mummy is well, and getting better, but the only way she will make a full recovery is if she’s left alone as she completes her treatment.
Will the vultures listen? Will they give her the time she needs or go back pecking for more?
Millions of us are praying for the return to health of our wonderful Princess of Wales. She has all our support and love.
A Britain without her is unthinkable, unbearable. Take your time, Princess, take your time.
💙🌹💙

Just curious Can you explain the housing situation with the wales? They have four houses? Or three and why would a move to Windsor be bad? I don’t want to go on a wales blog lol
The Wales family currently has four or maybe five houses and they are:
Amner Hall: This is a country residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, the family moved there in 2015 but it was a wedding gift from QEII back in 2011. It was their main residence until 2017, and they renovated it for a lot of money. People incorrectly state that they felt Amner Hall behind after they moved to Windsor, but that's not the case. It continues to be their private country home where they spent weekends and holidays.
Kensington Palace: This is the Prince and Princess of Wales's London residence. Despite it being called "Apartment 1A", giving off the vibe of something small and functional, it is actually a four-story mansion within a palace. It was renovated for over 4 million pounds after the couple moved in 2013. It is their main city residence and I assume this was where they stayed when the children St Thomas's, which is in the same area.
Adelaide Cottage: Adelaide Cottage is the principal residence of Kate and her children, and, I'm told William sometimes lives there, too. Just kidding, the cottage is their principal residence and is located in Windsor Home Park and is within walking distance from Windsor Castel and Frogmore House. Last year it was framed in context to the "busy, tourist attraction" of Kensington Palace, with royal reporters claiming the children need more space for a normal upbringing. Sure.
Llwynywermod: This is the residence we don't know much about, or how often they stay there but it was purchased by the Duchy of Cornwall in 2006 and is the Welsh residence of William and Kate.
Why moving out of Kensington Palace is a bad idea:
It's been floated around that Will and Kate want to move into Windsor Castle. At first, it was painted as them wanting to be close to the Queen, which I didn't have an issue with, but with the Queen gone moving from KP to Windsor is a bad, bad idea.
London is the capital city of England and is located in a city, giving an element of closeness to cultural events and the people. To boil it down, London is where all the shit happens and they need to be there for logical reasons. Every other residence they are on massive estates where outsiders are prohibited. The Queen moved to Windsor full-time with Philip because isolation made sense: they were an elderly couple during a pandemic where meeting the wrong people could literally kill them. Such a level of isolation is not required for Will and Kate, a relatively young couple who honestly are already recluses who don't do a lot of work. I'm sick of KP suddenly being framed as a "trap" with no privacy and that the Wales kids need more space for a normal upbringing when they've been safe there, along with the generations of royals who have lived there for decades.
Why do they need to isolate to this level? How is it not normal to raise your kids in the city where the vast majority of people in the UK live? I already disliked the move to Adelaide Cottage, because the ROTA framed is in a really classist and racist manner. There was this really gross Allison Pearson piece that I ranted about where she basically said that Will and Kate "fled" London because the city was becoming an unsafe shithole full of immigrants. I think moving to cut off London would give these people more fodder, it would also isolate them from the public to a degree that would hurt them as public figures. If you're basically claiming that you're moving to a massive (the world's largest inhabited) castle because you hate interacting with your fellow citizens in the city, you come off looking terribly elitist. Not to mention the costs of them taking up residence at Windsor Castle.
So, yeah, I just don't think it's a good idea. If they want to move out of KP they should consider another London-based residence like Clarence House. I can't understand how three other country residences isn't enough

Rising at 5 am may sound early to a lot of us but it’s a typical start to the day for Justin Hartley. But, come on, would you expect anything less from the guy who is both starring in and executive producing Tracker, last season’s biggest broadcast series? “You wake up in the dark and then you work all day and kind of open your eyes and all of a sudden it’s dark again,” Hartley laughs from Vancouver, Canada, where he’s on day three of an eight-day shoot for the second season’s fourth episode. He adds with sincerity, “It’s a lovely life.”
Today is what the Illinois native calls a “light day,” which seems like anything but considering it’s filled with meetings, reading Tracker scripts (and others he may want to develop), working out, grabbing a bite to eat, checking in with his 20-year-old daughter Isabella as well as spending time with wife Sofia Pernas. Also, pressing pause on all that to talk with this reporter about Tracker’s second season, which begins October 13 on CBS.
It’s no surprise that hard work is in the 47-year-old actor’s Midwest blood. “My parents are really hard workers and they’re from the Midwest as well, so there’s definitely something to that,” he said prior to Tracker’s post-Super Bowl premiere in February “It is funny, isn’t it, when you meet someone from the Midwest, you automatically are like, ‘oh, brother, or sister.’ It’s an interesting thing, right?”
The path from Illinois to our TVs started in 2002 when he played often-shirtless Fox Crane for four years on NBC’s daytime soap Passions before leaping to prime time for heroic roles like Oliver Queen (aka Green Arrow) on the CW’s Smallville (as well as Arthur C. Curry, aka Aquaman, in an unsold TV pilot). More guest roles came along on dramas like Revenge and Mistresses as well as a daytime return from 2014-16 as Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless. But his career catapulted in 2016 when he began playing troubled actor Kevin Pearson, one of the Big 3 siblings alongside Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Kate (Chrissy Metz) on NBC’s heartfelt hit This Is Us.
It was actually before This Is Us ended after six seasons in 2022 that the show’s executive producer and director Ken Olin handed Hartley a copy of Jeffery Deaver’s novel The Never Game and the two sold Tracker to CBS. (Elwood Reid was then brought on as showrunner and executive producer.) Scheduling its debut after Super Bowl LVIII gave the show its best possible shot at success, though Hartley learned long ago that sure bets don’t exist in TV. “You don’t ever suppose or suspect that it’s going to turn into what it turned into. I knew Tracker was really good but, like I said with This Is Us, you just never know if you’re going to find the audience. There’s no way to tell.”
An impressive 18.4 million people stuck around after the Chiefs beat the 49ers 25-22 to watch Tracker’s premiere live, and that number climbed to 30 million once various platforms and delayed viewing were figured in. When the drama settled into its regular Sunday night slot, viewership rose week-to-week, prompting a second season renewal by CBS after only four episodes had aired. Tracker would go on to become the number one regular series for the 2023-24 season and, according to CBS, the first time a first-year series had ranked as number one since Survivor’s debut in 2000.
As the 20-episode second season sets to launch on October 13, Hartley explains what he learned from Season 1 that helped shape Season 2 and talks about Jensen Ackles’ return as Colter’s brother, Russell, in the new season’s second episode.
After Season 1 of any show, you look at what worked and what didn’t. How much did that impact how you all shaped Season 2?
Justin Hartley: That’s a great question. We don’t take this lightly, what happened with the show. Now that we’ve had all the success, you look at what really worked and what we want to do more of that we think the audience would want. You put those things over in one box and you hopefully try to refine the project and the show and make it more streamlined. But you learn as you go and I’m sure we’ll have the same thing after season two where we’ll do that.
The family mystery was a big thread through the first season. Do we get into it again right off the bat in season two? What else is on Colter’s plate?
In the first two episodes, we absolutely do. Also, right off the bat what happens is we’re introduced to a job that Colter got a decade ago. There are two sisters and one of them goes missing. Colter is hired but he’s never been able to crack it and it haunts him. For the first time, we see this guy who is such a hero and always does the right thing but he wasn’t able to find the girl and bring her back. It says a lot about him as a person that he carries it with him but he does not let things go.
Jensen Ackles is back in Episode 2 as Colter’s brother Russell. Safe to say the show digs into the family mystery more?
It has more to do with the family thing. We left off first season with Colter having a lot of questions. He doesn’t even know who he can trust anymore. At the very beginning of last season, he thought his brother was involved in his father’s death, and then come to find out, wait a minute, he might not have had anything to do with it. Also, why is Dory (Colter’s sister, played by Melissa Roxburgh) hiding all this stuff?
So, Russell comes back and Colter’s got a couple of questions for him about this Dory situation and the box that she has and does Russell know where it is? Russell’s also pretty heroic in Episode 2 and they get involved in this really black ops, kind of strange thing. And these government officials start asking about our dad out of the blue, and you’re like, “Whoa, what’s this all about?” So, in every episode, Dad is becoming a little more vindicated maybe, or just maybe completely nuts. We don’t know. We dive a little bit deeper into that.
What’s Colter’s team up to? We know Robin Weigert is not back as Teddi but where does that leave her partner, Velma (Abby McEnany)?
At the end of last season, Reenie (Fiona Rene) decides that she’s leaving her firm and going to go it on her own. She’s got that big life change and, in a way, she teams up with Velma and you’ll see a lot of the two of them working together, which is a really interesting dynamic. They both have common goals with just some completely different ways of going about their business. Bobby (Eric Graise) our computer whiz, is hacking away. Then we have a couple of really cool surprises coming for Reenie.
Sergei Bachlakov / CBS
Let’s talk about guest stars in the new season. Will Melissa Roxburgh return as Colter’s sister, Dory? I know she’s busy with her new series (NBC’s The Hunting Party).
Her show ends [production] way before we end so we can bring her back in the latter episodes of our show. And then Jennifer Morrison‘s coming back to direct Episode 6. I’m sure her character will be back.
Sofia is back in the third episode as fellow tracker Billie Matalon. That must’ve been a fun week having her back.
Oh, she’s the best and such a talent. She comes in and she just delivers and brings so much more to it than is on the pages. It’s just been a blessing having her and then also I get to spend time with her! It’s my favorite days in the world when I get to work with her.
What happens in the episode?
She calls on Colter because she needs his help for something. And of course, he’s like, “You need my help, huh?” It’s that kind of thing, like, “Well, okay, then ask for it. I’ll help you. You got to ask me,” that kind of thing.
How are you being challenged in Season 2 either as an actor or with the physical stuff?
Well, the episode order is a lot bigger so that’ll be a challenge. We’re only on Episode 4, so I feel great, Jim, to be honest with you. But it’s classic me. In three months, we’ll see how I feel. But there’s more physicality in certain episodes. The fights certainly are more physical but I don’t mind a bruise here so I just trying to keep my body healthy.
Going back to Jensen. You guys obviously have a lot of fun working together but when did you two first meet?
Well, we were both on the CW. He was on Supernatural and I had joined Smallville. I got to know him and Jared and all those guys over there at Supernatural. We’re all actors displaced here in Vancouver and we have a lot in common. He’s a family man and he’s got kids and loves his work and loves his family and loves his fans. We’re the same age and we just developed a friendship. I’d never had a chance to work with him until Tracker. He’s a very busy man, but I love working with him. It’s a treat.
Michael Courtney/CBS
Where do you see the show going, say, five years down the line. Do you have a vision that far ahead or are you just focusing on what’s in front of you?
That’s a good question. We’ve thought about it. Well, first of all, I would just say that, from your mouth to God’s ear, if we’re lucky enough to do a third season, a fourth season, a fifth season, a sixth season, that would be wonderful. I think the show works in the long run in that we have adopted this idea that although we are a Rockford Files [type show], we do develop the character going forward.
What I really loved about This Is Us…look, I hate to keep talking about it, but I just adore that show and being a part of it. I just love that when you watch a show like that and you tune into Season 1 and then you tune into the last season, you see the development of the character and you go, “Wait a minute, are they playing different roles?” But then if you watch it throughout the years, you go, “Oh my gosh,” and you experience those things with the characters. As competent and confident as Colter is, I don’t at all think for a second that he doesn’t have a ton to learn, especially about himself and his family and all that. Going forward, I think that will be how the show lives on a long runway, is that we keep developing this character and he becomes better at what he’s doing. He’s a restless man, and for an audience member, at least shows that I love to watch, you love to see that growth of a character and we have that.

My Random RDR2 Headcanons (Mostly Modern but some are regular)
Dutch listens to ABBA and his favourite song is Money, Money, Money need I say more?
Hosea has traveled a lot and would tell young Arthur and John stories about his travels.
Micah would unironically call someone Kitten and would be a Discord Mod.
Kieran and Sean got a 23andMe thing and found out they are somehow related.
Sean listens to Top O’ the Morning to Ya by House of Pain.
Charles is very sensitive to loud noises.
Swanson is shit at cards. (This might be canon, but my memory is shit!)
Dutch denies that he and Hosea have something going on.
Arthur cried at the beginning of Up.
Javier and Karen’s favourite movies are The Bee Movie and Hoodwinked.
Kieran and Tilly have binge watched the Cornetto Trilogy.
Trelawney and Hosea know EVERYTHING!
John and Bill often watch Billy Madison and have a conjoined mental breakdown when they think about how much he reminds them of themselves.
Dutch wanted to be a cool 80’s conman/arcade-owner.
John, Sean, Kieran, Arthur, and Javier frequently reenact movie scenes and music videos together, they also heavily remind me of Tally Hall. (Might further elaborate on this later)
Lenny works at one of those cat bookstores.
Pearson loved reading Moby Dick.
Javier has the most high-pitched scream out of the entire Van der Linde gang.
Sadie, Karen, Tilly, Mary-Beth, Molly, and Abigail started the tradition of hanging out atleast once a month specifically to cry about stuff.
Uncle is Tiktok famous… for all the wrong(?) reasons.
Sadie is fearless… minus heights.
Abigail and Karen have beaten the shit out of Micah once and they might do it again.
Grimmshaw gives the girls motivational speeches and behind closed doors is really sweet to them all.
Jack gained an interesting vocabulary after being around Micah and Bill.
Charles easily befriends animals and they often just walk right up to him.
Trelawney listens to Freddie Mercury and Elton John.
Lenny and Arthur watch all the Highschool Musical movies frequently and know every song by heart.
Once Lenny convinced Arthur to go to a haunted house with him, and halfway through it they started scream-singing Bet On It from Highschool Musical 2.
Javier is extremely good at doing his make-up, thought about making a yt channel for it.
Sean and Javier listen to Mr. Boombastic by Shaggy RELIGIOUSLY.
Charles and Hosea listen to Kate Bush and The Cardigans.
Arthur is a Jurassic Park nerd.
I can see Javier, Sean, Hosea, and Dutch singing and dancing to Barbie Girl, Dutch and Sean will only sing as Barbie.
Sean listens to Who let the dogs out.
Mary-Beth and Bill fight over Kieran 24/7 and the poor man just sits there too scared to defuse it.

This Is Us headcanons, because I have decided to fill in the gaps myself
(BTW, if the showrunners contradicted any of this in their interviews, I do not care because it isn't canon if you don't put it in the show)
Randall does not become President, because I feel that is a wee bridge too far. He does not run for President at the end of the main timeline (2033) but he does run unsuccessfully two more times. Kevin, Jack Jr, and Nicky Jr (more on that later) are special guests at his campaign rallies. He saves in Congress for an appropriate length of time and then retires gracefully.
Beth runs her dance school and continues to be fabulous. She outlives Randall but does not remarry.
Deja and Malik reconnected while she was in med school and he was in law school. A few years after William Jr is born, they have a daughter they name Beth. So Malik gets his own Big Three, and has a teenage daughter and two little kids at the same time. Godspeed to you, Malik.
Tess does not marry the person she was dating in eighth grade, because that's overkill. She goes to the University of Chicago and majors in social work. Eventually she marries and she and her wife adopt a pair of siblings from foster care.
Annie goes to Howard University like Randall wanted to. She writes a series of thinly fictionalized novels about her crazy family as an adult. She becomes a single mother by choice and has a daughter named Rebecca.
Kate remains married to Phillip, who keeps that awesome mustache for a very long time. She opens a bunch of music schools for the blind. Phillip outlives her but does not remarry.
Toby remains married to Laura (aka Vanilla Parfait Lady). They do not have any other kids. He finds a job in LA that satisfies him professionally. He outlives Kate but Laura outlives him: she does not remarry.
Jack Jr struggles with weight as a young kid but Toby gets him into exercising and eating healthy so he overcomes it by his early teens. He does struggle with overdrinking in early adulthood (remember our first glimpse of him was him passed out next to a bunch of beer bottles?) He overcomes it once he starts dating Lucy and never really developed the serious issues all of his male relatives did. Both he and Lucy become the uber Pearsons: successful in both of their careers and with an adorable family to boot. After Hope is born, they have an adorable son named Toby.
Hailey meets her birth mother and sister as an adult but does not develop a close relationship with them. Because there are so many famous members of the family, she was aware that Hailey's parents split up when she was small and has some issues with it. It's disappointing, but that's life. Hailey eventually married a nice guy who is neither the famous guy she slept with or her best friend at the art gallery. They do not have kids. Hailey becomes a very successful art curator.
Remember when only Hailey seems to be invited to Hope's birth and nobody else was around and it seemed to predict Toby and Kate's premature deaths? Yeah, that was crap, they and their spouses were down in the cafeteria eating banana pudding, that's all.
Kevin does continue to act after the present timeline ends in 2022. He never becomes a huge star, but he has a season-long arc on a streaming show, a miniseries that gets him award noms, a voice job. He mostly quits after Rebecca dies and focuses on Big Three Homes and his family, but he does still work occasionally afterwards.
After reconciling in 2026, Kevin and Sophie go to a lot of therapy and marry in late 2027. While they may have wanted kids together at some point, it was not a huge priority for Sophie in her other marriages and they recognize that it is too late now to try for it. It sucks, but that 's life.
Kevin has kind of a Tilda Swinton situation going on with his personal life. For those who are unaware of what that means, actress Tilda Swinton was rumored for years to have one partner she raised her kids with and one she traveled with. She recently revealed this was never the case: she split up with the father of her kids when they were young and remained with the other partner afterwards, but was not involved with them at the same time. Sophie has little interest in Kevin's Hollywood life and only occasionally goes with him to premieres and charity stuff: he'll often take Cassidy, or Madison, or Elijah, or the kids (including Madison and Elijah's son), or Cassidy's son Matty sometimes, or a combination of any of these people. Madison and Kevin do parent stuff together often, and we're often seen at sports events together. The entire collective makes decisions together and helps raise their collective three kids as a team. They often vacation together. Madison and Elijah live at another house in the town where Kevin and Sophie move to, but as we have seen they often hang out at the cabin on weekends. So from a distance, it looks like Kevin is at the very least polyamorous....or maybe has started a cult. Anyway, it's a weird little blended family unit and it works for them.
Cassidy remains close to Kevin and works at Big Three Homes. She does not remarry and remains happily single.
Nicky and Edie married in late 2022. They moved to the small cabin while Rebecca and Miguel moved to the big one. Nicky (who is 85 at the time the story mostly ends, in 2033) dies shortly after the twins graduate from high school in 2039. Edie lives in the cabin another ten years or so before she passes away.
Nicky Jr becomes a major football star and plays for the Steelers, because of course he does. Then he becomes an actor. He basically ends up being The Rock. He marries twice and has a daughter with his first wife and two boys with his second but never really settle down and enjoys DILF life.
Franny becomes a nurse like Bonus Mom Sophie. She marries and has two girls.
Madison and Elijah's son becomes some sort of tech wiz.
I am not sure which one of the four outlives the other, but Elijah dies first because I like him the least.
Rebecca and Jack continue to have a wonderful afterlife together.
